Hi all,

It seems to me that the best way to handle the installer would be to
create a small CD image that boots the machine, runs the installer, and
finally asks for Red Hat Linux 7.2 cds to complete the install.

I've made further modifications to anaconda, and it is now at a state
where it runs from the new CD right up to the point where it is ready to
install the packages. It appears to know that it wants Red Hat CD 1,
however, it crashes when it tries to unmount the installer CD. It get far
enough that it displays the install progress bars, and shows that it is
going to install glibc as the first package. Then it dies...

The anaconda dump:
  File "/usr/lib/anaconda/packages.py", line 563, in doInstall
    problems = ts.run(0, ~rpm.RPMPROB_FILTER_DISKSPACE, cb.cb, 0)
  File "/usr/lib/anaconda/packages.py", line 225, in cb
    fn = self.method.getFilename(h, self.pkgTimer)
  File "/usr/lib/anaconda/image.py", line 88, in getFilename
    isys.umount("/mnt/source")
  File "/usr/lib/anaconda/isys.py", line 152, in umount
    rc = _isys.umount(what)
SystemError: (16, 'Device or resource busy')

The complete anaconda dump is here, if anyone is interested:

All I can say is, ARRRGGGHHH! :)

At this point, I don't know if it is the python modifications, or the way
I am building the disks, or a hardware problem, or.....
I'm going to try the standard Red Hat install on this machine next, and
see if it can handle the disk swap there.

I'll get it working at some point, I hope. Doing it this way reduces the
size of the disk image to 95MB, since it doesn't actually have to contain
any rpm files. It does however need to contain the comps, hdlists, stage1
and 2 images, as well as the images/ directory. I can probably shrink it
some more, once I get it to actually install.

I have to run out to the store and buy another bulk pack of CDR media. ;)
