Got a bit of an idea here....when I got my new box home in spring...I ran
into exactly the same thing with a Slack install...just plain dog
slow...couldn't figure it out...finally caught an error message while
booting up with a different distros init messages...it complained of a
misconfigured printer port in the bios...can't remember the exact message.
Is it possible that this is what's causing the hang or in this case the
dragginess....hardware instead of software. Can't say for sure but maybe
a possibility.

Later...G
