I assume you are referring to ezrpm?

It's OK, I just found another way.
I just completed a base install using the boot disk, and installing 
everything via rpm. All dependencies were met, pre and post scripts all 
ran, and the rpm database is intact and up to date. After re-booting 
everything worked, and kudzu found the mouse, ethernet card, and usb.

It's late, so I'll refine it, and convert my notes to a script tomorrow.
