1) the Konsult one is more of a "supertux":

That's where I thought I got the desktop idea from, but a WM will 
probably do and there much smaller. I guess, though we should 
look for something klickable as well as something that works with 
the keyboard. I'll look through the list archive first, before I make 
more suggestions.
