[Rule-list] web space for database

Hi,

I have web space for the rule database with mysql and php. I also 
have a wiki installed for RULE that I am turning into a CoBweb. A 
kind of a wiki with a weblog and chat and upload/download all based 
on GPL software. This would be good for internal work, collaborative 
creating and testing documents before they are posted to the web 
site.

We probably should move the test machines to a database too. I will 
look into some php flat filers that are already written. I can write code 
but I usually don't. I just modify someone elses.

The kind of application you were talking about, an online RULE 
configurator, would be easy to build and use. Users can select RULE 
approved apps that have been tested to run on a machine similar to 
theirs and then output the package files to a web page where a user 
could save them or cut and paste them.

I compiled the blackboxwm on my Red Hat machine and ran it. Very 
minimal and very fast. I haven't yet tested it on a 486.

Next topic - using Midnight Commander as a menu. As well as being 
a file manager mc is an ftp interface and a text editor. Has anyone 
set it up as a menu? There is an F2 user menu. Anyone use this? 
Also a menu subdirectory could be created with scripts to start the 
RULE apps. Any other ideas? Does anyone have other suggestions 
for a text menuing system for non graphical RULE installs?

Devon, after I make a slinky install what do I have to do to install an X 
server? I would like to test window managers and graphic apps on 
my 486 boxes but I don't really know how to install. I made previous 
tests by swapping hard drives, not a desirable install procedure.

As far as extra modules to be included on the install disks accessing 
cd roms and network cards are most important at install time. No CD 
and no network is like being up sh*t creek without a paddle. 
Especially if it's your only machine.
