I honestly don't know. However, at a good guess Plesk doesn't really have a 
user list of its own but rather uses qmail's virtual users capability for 
mail, sets up web directories separately, etc. So I'd hazard a guess that 
we'll need to keep and maintain a separate user file with htpasswd.

On the bright side, if you go into the domain admin screen there is a 
button for "Directories" and this (apparently) sets up htpasswd files for 
you. Let me know if it does the job for you.
