[Rule-list] install via pcmcia nic w/o cd or floppy?

i want to put an old laptop to use, but it has neither a working cd nor
floppy. it works fine via the pcmcia nic.

the crux of the problem is getting the installer to install via that
pcmcia nic, with no floppy by which to load the pcmcia drivers.

it would seem in principle i should be able to prepare a special
initrd.img containing whatever is needed in the way of pcmcia drivers,
but how would i get the install program, whether anaconda or miniconda,
to use those drivers? is there a way short of hacking the installer
source?
