FYI:  KMail &co has been moved to kde-pim module (kdepim) in KDE 3.2 CVS, so 
kdenetwork module became much, much smaller.
So, rebuilding KPPP (as part of kdenetwork) would be matter of minutes, 
instead of hours (as it has been before)

Yes, sure.
Try to unpack QT tarball and run
$./configure --help
