Not *so* horrible once you have done it :-) Thanks to Michael for
encouraging me to dive into the internals of slinky. 

Actually I built and tested a customised Slinky-ISO. From the changelog:

slinky-v0.3.95a-vumbox
       - June 09, 2003
       - Add rulerc.sh executing /mnt/cdrom/postinst/postinst.sh
       - Add slinky.config customized for zambia:project (standalone
         Office-WS)
