[RULE] Progress thwarted on minimal install of FC3-RC1

Update:

***** TESTING FC3-RC1 *****

Since my ISP at home is truly (truly!) horrible, I've been averaging a
download speed of 64 Kbps which means the FC3-RC1 ISO for *disc 1* took
slightly over 24 hours. I also got my office firewall to download the
rest of the discs on its 512 Kbps line, and I'll get those when I go to
work tomorrow. But for my test box and for fedora-minimal, all I needed
during the weekend was disc 1.

Unfortunately, I got nowhere. My previous install of FC3-T3 obviously
worked, although it took about 3.5 hours. After roughly a two-hour wait
this time (must get a faster test server, really) the "install exited
abnormally" during the "transferring install image to hard drive" phase
and of course left the drive blank or unusable.

I did notice that the Minimal install for RC1 promised to take 591MB vs.
621MB for T3, so someone at Red Hat has done a little pruning. And since
T3's 621MB actually became 599MB on my disk, I'll hazard a WAG that the
actual space consumed by a Minimal RC1 out-of-the-box will be ~570MB.
Since we don't know what they removed, we don't know if this will affect
our efforts or not.

***** IRRELEVANT CHANGES TO SMALL-NETSERVER-HOWTO *****

I've made some changes to my HOWTO, but all of them are text added to
the beginning of the HOWTO. Prerequisites, preparation, installation...
all stuff that comes before "trimming the fat" so it should not be of
major interest to anyone here. Of course, I'll happily accept feedback
from anyone who takes the time to read it anyway.

***** PACKAGE LIST FROM KARSTEN HOPP *****

I realized that I have not yet posted Karsten's package list for T3. He
has 76 packages taking up 310MB and as soon as I get my RC1 box back up,
I'll make a concerted attempt to get somewhere near there using his
stuff for guidance while documenting the removals for the docs.

I will also post his package list to the same HOWTO sometime tomorrow
(Monday); please take a look and see if it has anything you'd delete, or
conversely if it is missing anything you think was horribly wronged by
being removed and should be kept.

I'll post a note to this list when I have this package list online; I
don't expect to have the RC1 box back up before Tuesday evening.

Cheers,
