I've found adding ,grp_led:scroll after toggle helpful, too.  At least 
that works under XFree86.  It make the scroll lock LED on the keyboard 
light up when you're not in the default (1st listed) language.  So, after 
the second -option switch, it would look like this: 
grp:alt_shift_toggle,grp_led:scroll
