Well, I am still waiting for the installer to complete.
For those who haven't been following my work on the enigma-list (Red Hat), I
tried to simply change the code in anaconda allowing for 8000K RAM instead
of the default 17000K. I tried removing packages until it fit on one disc,
and used 'linux mem=16M'. The install took over three hours on a PIII
500MHz [1153MB of total packages]. I tried the standard two-disc set, with
the modified anaconda, and I am awaiting the results.
It doesn't look too promising, as it has been 20 hours, and it still hasn't
started installing packages. It now has the Processing [Preparing to
install...] screen, but the progress bar has not started.
Once (if) this finishes, I will try one further test with this disc-set. I
want to select minimal packages [currently I have selected 1739 MB of total
packages], and see if that is any faster.
I will keep you all updated.
Forrest
