Paul,
believe it or not, yesterday I was thinking that the first
thing I would suggest to a
third world kid to do after we've helped him to install LInux on an old
PC would be to use it to digitally record all the local folklore (music,
stories, craft techniques, traditions , everything).
Before going online and being swallowed, him and his whole culture, by
the global village, that is.
As you can imagine, reading of greenstar made me happy!
Keep the good work, and please let's keep in contact. I firmly believe
that the RULE project I just launched is an interesting and worthwhile
project technically, but that its true justification is in helping
this kind of activities.
I suggest (if you didn't do it already) to read all the few web pages
at http://spazioweb.inwind.it/marco_web/, and the 30/40 messages
already sent to our list (follow the mailing list link and go to the
archives). The messageas about schoolforge are the ones most
interesting to you.
Let's keep in contact and work together, by any means. As one of our
potential users, I also suggest you to subscribe to our list for a
while and contribute. It's not for hackers only!
Ciao,
Marco Fioretti
