[Rule-list] qlogin

I took a while to answer this, bacause I wanted to fire up my slow machine and refresh my memory.

On my slow box, I power on, wait a while to boot, login, startx, wait for X, and wait some more for app(s). I'd like to enter a password seconds after powerup, and walk away and return (coffee in hand) to a machine that's ready to use. The difference in total "machine time" to boot
might not be different, but the subjective impression would be better. 

You are correct, however in saying that there would probably be no objective improvement in startup time.
On any machine fast enough not to invite walking away
during startup, it'd be a non-issue.

I remember reading that article last summer, but I got the impression
that it doesn't speed up or bypass the standard init sequence in any
way. When that is finished, it saves you from entering the password.

Or not?
