Because when I wrote the initial scripts, lilo was easier. ;)
One of the goals is to offer the choice of either. In fact, a default
grub.conf file is already generated during install and saved as
grub.conf.slinky. I just have to add some scripting to use grub specific
device names (hd0) etc.
There were also reported problems in some cases with grub and the kernel
included with 7.3. I don't recall the issues at present, but I decided at
the time that it was better to be safe and use lilo.
