I've just now had a chance to skim this article. It's quite good. It's 
also almost *exactly* how the slinky installer is built. The only 
difference is that we then go on to install Red Hat RPMS. Prior to 
installing the rpms, slinky does just about exactly what the article is 
suggesting.
