New slinky version available. Several fixes and hopefully improvements as
well.
On my server, as well as: (ISO is only available on savannah)
http://savannah.nongnu.org/download/rule/slinky/slinky-v0.3.4/
In the six or seven weeks that I've been working on the 0.3.* series of
the installer, I've had only one install report. Thanks Eugene. ;)
Bugs he reported are fixed.
slinky-v0.3.4 - Dec. 7, 2002
- Minor bugfixes in the rpms install method.
Thanks to Eugene Wong for finding and
reporting the errors.
- Fix XFree86 rpm file list.
- Add option to skip formatting /. Use with caution.
- Include sendmail package with web tools. (deps)
- Create /etc/sysconfig/keyboard during install.
- If slinky.config is used, log it. Echo the file
to the log, and place a copy in /root/scripts.
Needed to debug install time errors.
If you select the stock XFree86 packages, all dependencies are satisfied.
If, (after the install), you add openbox, cabextract, and xf86-corefonts,
You'll have a minimal window manager capable of displaying antialiased
truetype fonts. Very cool! The above packages are available on my server.

Disk usage for an install with:
base packages, web tools, network, XFree86, openssh server, and the
packages listed above:
[root at slinky root]# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/hdb1 9.2G 393M 8.5G 5% /
none 50M 0 49M 0% /dev/shm
/dev/hda1 97M 4.7M 89M 5% /boot
Still under 400M with the stock XFree86 packages and all the dependencies.
I've made no attempts to remove any extra packages, docs, locale info,
etc.
