[RULE] SCSI CD install

Ingo,
Do you know which model SCSI card you have? Do you have the RULE iso
CD? On that CD there is the following directory:

/modules/2.4.18-RULE/kernel/drivers/scsi

in which the scsi drivers are stored.

Possibly you can store them all on a floppy and boot from the install
diskette based on slinky-v0.3.96. Once the installer is running, switch
to the 2nd console and mount your floppy. You should be able to
modprobe the modules you need. I think the order should be scsi_mod.o,
<YOUR-HARDWARE-DRIVER-HERE>.o, sd_mod.o and then sr_mod.o. Then you can
return to the installer and proceed with a CD-based installation.

Question for Michael or someone else more familiar with the internals
of the installer: will it look for a non-ide cdrom?

Sorry, I don't have time to test this right now, but I am getting ready
to leave on a trip to the USA. If this doesn't work and someone else
hasn't figured it out within a couple days, write to me directly and I
can work out a more exact procedure while in the USA. One of my reasons
for the trip is to dispose of or otherwise deal with some old hardware
left at the homes of relatives, and among it all is a PC and a couple of
older SCSI cards. So, I can figure out (hopefully) how to make it work
once I am there.

Also, I suspect that I shall produce some more installation reports on
still more increasingly bizarre hardware! {8->

Bonne chance!
