I finally got a box freed up that I could try RULE on and following
though the various instructions I came up with the following comments.
These may well be faults at my end so I will stand corrected as needed!
1. If miniconda is being phased out should references to it now be
removed or at least given a seperate page to aid clarity?
2. Going from the Download Page to Slinky, the current RULE installer
page. Is the current version of Slinky not 0.3.97 instead of 0.3.95 or 96?
3. The links http://savannah.nongnu.org/download/rule/ seems to be empty
likewise with http://freesoftware.fsf.org/download/rule/ and
http://www.rule/project.org/download/iso/ is not availabe ?dead link. I
obtained my .img files from
www.tuxfan.homeip.net:8080/rule/slinky/2.4.18-4rule (dont ask me how I
ended up there! I THINK it was a link from the old site)
3. When I run Slinky (which works fine and being refered to the mini
how-to on fdisk was very useful but I dont think it takes the fdisk
process to completion) it prompts me to answer if I am going to use RH
v8 or 9 should this not now refer to Fedora particularly bearing in
mind RH9 cannot be downloaded directly from redhat.com now? (I remind
you im not au fait with Red Hat). Have'nt got this far yet but can I
assume that if I answer 9 here that I will be able to use Fedora discs
and all will be well?
4. Mention is made of using rawrite from CD to create the floppies via
windows. I assume this is from the RH cd's. Maybe the more straight
forward option is to use rawritewin which is readily downloadable?
These are all pretty minor points I know but for someone trying an
install for the first time can be confusing!
I would be happy to redraft the various bits and peices of the webpages
if this would be of use.
Regards
David
