It already has an install-to-hd routine.

For older machines, DamnSmallLinux is a much better choice. It is based
on Knoppix, but is heavily modified to be much smaller and make much more
conservative use of system resources. I think it won't boot with less
than 48MB RAM, though. Uses Xvesa and/or Xfbd, and fluxbox window mgr.
Is meant to be under 50MB so it can fit on a business card CD. It has an
install-to-hd routine as well, and takes up about 130MB once everything's
installed. Uses the same hardware detection/setup as Knoppix, so does a
great job setting up the system. Comes with a number of prebuilt
configuration scripts (e.g., for setting up networking). If it's decided
to go in the direction of Debian and/or Knoppix, DSL has already done alot
of the footwork for lightening up the system and reducing system
requirements.
