You couldn't ping by ip address, or hostname? Are you getting a hostname 
lookup failure, or no route to host?

You got me. :) I did add a few files to /etc to make life easier for 
those doing a network install. I should add a check to clean them up if 
not needed, they may have something to do with this problem. Have a look 
at /etc/hosts /etc/host.conf, and /etc/resolv.conf
Also, could you check for and provide a list of rpmsave and rpmnew files 
on the system for me?
