Hi. I'm new to the RULE project, so here's a short introduction:

My name is Vegard Munthe and I live in Stockholm, Sweden, though
I am norwegian. I was born in Hong Kong and have lived a bit here and
there.

I work for Copyleft Software AS[1] in Norway and started FAIR Allocation
of Infotech Resources[2] early last year. I work in close co-operation
with World Computer Exchange and have been focusing on computer
redistribution for quite a few years before this. Last year things picked
up pace with regard to both government and individual support.

I have therfore been working with 'recycling' organisations to further
software issues in our/their projects. We have had our own initiative to
make a GNOME based solution for the not-so-low-end computers we receive,
but have struggled to find viable solutions for low-end computers. And
then I read about RULE. Just the project I was wishing for. And it has an
ISO that works! :)

Which brings me here.

First of all I'd like to thank the members of this project for a good idea
and hard work. If we can bring this project towards its goal, the benefits
for communities around the world will be staggering. Already there are
large projects in motion to make computer based education programs for
children in developing countries. All they lack are the computers and the
software platform.

Here's were you come in. I wish to promote RULE as the defacto computer
recycling distribution option. I wish to collect resources to help guide
and finance further work on this project. I wish to participate as much as
I can to help RULE establish itself as a mainstream distribution option.

But all this will take time and effort, and nothing is guaranteed in this
world. :) So hang tuff and keep working, and we'll see what happens.

I've also compiled and packaged the dillo[3] web browser for you to test
and see what you think. Dillo is a lightweight and fast browser, but has
one large weakness: It does not support HTTPS.

The RedHat package can be downloaded from:

http://vm.cl.no/dillo-0.6.6-1.i386.rpm

It was made on a RedHat 8.0 platform, and depends on the following:

glibc-2.2.93-5
gtk+-1.2.10-22
glib-1.2.10-8
libjpeg-6b-21
libpng-1.2.2-6
XFree86-libs-4.2.0-72
zlib-1.1.4-4
