If this is what I think it is... this happens all the time.

When it installed the packages, it should have looked something like:

Installing bash-2.4.5.rpm
Preparing: ####################################### 100%
Installing: ####################################### 100%
Installing binutils-6.6.6.rpm
Preparing: ####################################### 100%
Installing: ######################## 60%

The process should have taken a couple hours or more.

If you didn't get that, the most likely causes are:

1. bad URL (when you enter /path/to/URLs/ I think it warns you to be sure to
add the trailing '/'.)
2. no network or failed network

Note that slinky doesn't warn you if things failed during this stage.

Hope this helps!
