I tried it, but modules is missing pcmcia_core and ds and those are needed
when using a pcmcia network card. It looks like I would need to build
the whole thing from scratch to generate my own copies that are compatible
with the binary versions available for download. I started down this road
once but I didn't get things to build. Is there a chance you could make
a version of modules that includes those two modules?

I was able to copy all of the extra modules into the ram disk, so it looks
like copy over modules to the hard drive and then from the hard drive to the
ram disk will work. (Though if I nuke the partitions and then the install
fails, getting back to that state might be hard.)
