MS-DOS was installed first and XOSL was installed in that partition just
like you'd install any other application! A summary of partition details
would look like the following:
    MS-DOS Fat 50.6Mb Primary
    SWAP Linux Swap 10.8Mb Primary
              Linux Ext2 341.1Mb Primary (83.3Mb by
                                                  installation so far)

Yes that is correct, except that I have the V 8.0-0.3 CD, but that
shouldn't be a problem when looking for the kernel should it?
RedHat 8.0 boots and the installer fails due to memory problems
RedHat 9 boots and then fails due to what I think are hardware
compatability problems with the boot kernel. I am presently trying to
install RedHat 9 with Slinky-V 0.3.96.

It never really occoured to me that the CD might not be created okay.
Is there some way to verify it's contents?
I haven't been able to use the CD at all during intallation, I tried to
use it during the promt for second stage scripts but it failed. But then
it didn't even seem to be trying. Could this be related to the lack of
BIOS CD support on my machine?

Yes, I format the partition as ext2.

I have a copy of RedHat 8.0, does this mean I can use that disk for the
kernel, won't the path be different? I would do omething about this
manually in the shell but as I've said the shell fails to start for me,
which is reeeeeeeeeelllllllllly fustrating as it kinda limits my options
for fixing the problem. I'll try using the red hat disk for the kernel,
but I'm not holding my breath, 'cos as I said the eject fails, and the
remount doesn't look as if it's quiering the CDROM.
