Hello All
On the same box, rule-115, an install was also made using Slinky 0.5.0. Some procedures and comments are identical with the first test using Slinky 0.4.7, but some others, naturally, are not. There is no test form as the list has already been sent with the 0.4.7 report.
This first go leaves the config file with Slinky 0.5.0 unchanged, every pack list option is no, and no documentation is yes. Method was cdrom. The locales chosen are en:el.
On reboot I added "mem=28MB" to see whether there were adverse effects. I saw none.
Booted with linux ide=nodma (didn't seem to matter.) Install was ok and subsequent reboot was ok. Here are the noteworthy bits:
1 - Warnings on rpmnew and rpmorig - significant?
2 - Warnings on scriplet failures - significant?
3 - Only by going to tty2 just before responding to whether to install lilo and editing /etc/lilo.conf in order to add (essential in this case) append="ide=nodma". Suggestion: put this as default since it's easy to take out afterwards. The reverse results in endless delays until the conf file is edited & lilo invoked.
4 - Default timezone is est. Suggestion: mention this somewhere.
What follows are readouts of (a) dmesg (b) df -h (c) free
